Enhance’s Festive Season Unwrapped
Christmas has finally arrived, and here at Enhance we’re more than ready for a well-earned break—whether that means quiet, cosy moments or joyful family chaos. As the year winds down, our team is embracing traditions old and new, each adding their own sparkle to the festive season. Here’s a little peek at how everyone will be celebrating…
Our Dentist, Tom
Tom is heading back to Sheffield to soak up family time with his brothers and his nieces and nephew—fully leaning into his role as the “cool uncle.” His ideal Christmas Day includes turkey with all the trimmings, an impressive number of mince pies, mulled wine, and a generous slice of Christmas cake paired with blue cheese (yes, really!). It’s also his first Christmas in his new home, and we’re all eager to see how he’s brought the festive spirit to his space.
Our Receptionist, Lorraine
Lorraine cherishes a calm Christmas Eve spent with her husband and friends over delicious food. Christmas Day is her moment to shine in the kitchen as she cooks for her husband and two sons. But this year comes with a truly magical twist—she’ll be joining her daughter and grandson Brooks on the Christmas Polar Express to meet Father Christmas. A memory in the making.
Our Dental Therapist, Beth
Beth has gifted herself the ultimate peaceful Christmas escape—a cosy lodge retreat with her mum, sister and partner. Think long walks, crisp winter air and a break from the everyday routine. In the run-up to Christmas she’s also squeezing in a trip to the York Christmas Market with friends. As a true night owl, we’re curious whether she’ll actually be asleep when Father Christmas arrives… though she has been very well behaved this year!
Our Treatment Co-Ordinator, Sorina
Sorina will be celebrating with her husband and her son Liam, who is practically glowing with festive excitement and hoping for something football-themed in his stocking. Her personal festive indulgence? Kinder chocolate—so it’s safe to say the two of them will be sharing plenty of sweet moments over the holidays.
Our Sedation Nurse, Zofia, and our Marketing Assistant and Dental Nurse, Izzy
Zofia and Izzy will be bringing Polish Christmas traditions to life together this year. In Poland, Christmas Eve is a day of fasting followed by a celebratory feast, and their table will feature Barszcz with Uszka—beetroot soup with mushroom and meat dumplings—followed by Karp, a classic fish dish. Dessert? Naturally, three different sweet treats. Izzy especially loves seeing Christmas through her daughter Klaudia’s eyes, and this year she’s even embraced a new tradition introduced by her partner: Elf on the Shelf. It may not have been part of her childhood, but the mischievous little elf has already been busy, and Izzy secretly loves keeping up with the antics just as much as Klaudia.
Our Practice Manager, Adriana
Adriana is preparing for a full and meaningful household this Christmas. For the first time in twelve years, her parents are visiting, joined by the girls from foster care. Her brother-in-law’s parents and sister are coming too, making it a true family gathering. Christmas Day will be filled with Romanian dishes and carol singing, and New Year’s Eve promises even more excitement—she and Seb are hosting and welcoming a special performer, a well-known Romanian singer. It’s shaping up to be a whirlwind of emotion, joy and celebration.
Our Patient Experience Lead and Marketing Manager, Lauren
Lauren will be celebrating her very first Christmas as a married woman, spending the holidays with her husband Dev. One of her most treasured traditions happens on Boxing Day, when her mum leaves Santa’s footprints by the back door and makes reindeer food with glitter. Even at thirty, it’s pure magic to her. She’s especially excited to see the wonder start to blossom in her little nieces this year.
Our Lead Receptionist, Jackie
Jackie’s Christmas always starts the same way—a bowl of nuts, a nutcracker, and figs and dates, a tradition passed down from her mum. She’ll be busy cooking Christmas dinner for family, before heading off to visit more relatives on Boxing Day, hopefully with a chance to rest her feet at some point.
Our Dental Implant and Sedation Dentist, Alex
Alex kicks off Christmas morning with champagne, a fry-up, and the joy of watching his son Jude open his gifts. This year, Jude has his heart set on a Green Goblin from Spiderman—so we’ll soon find out if Santa delivers. Alex is hosting Christmas in his newly renovated kitchen, and knowing his culinary skills, we’re confident his guests are in for a treat.
Our Dental Nurse, Georgie
Georgie is enjoying a girls’ Christmas with her mum in their beautifully finished home—Pinterest-perfect (if you overlook the leopard-print bathroom curtains!). Their day will be filled with a lovely Christmas dinner and a cosy afternoon watching her all-time favourite festive film, The Grinch, feet up and fully relaxed.
Our Dental Therapist, Leanne
Leanne will be celebrating at her niece’s house, surrounded by family in full festive spirit. Her daughter is travelling home from university, making the season feel even more special. And while most of us will be lazing on the sofa on Boxing Day, Leanne and her family will once again be taking part in the Chevin Chase—a seven-mile run around Otley. We admire their dedication… and happily volunteer to be enthusiastic spectators!
Our Dental Therapist and Business Development Manager, Rachel
Each year, Christmas is a grand tour of Yorkshire and the North East and Rachel wouldn’t have it any other way. It feels especially magical now that Harry is one—he’s so aware of all the lights, sounds and festive excitement. Watching his little face light up at the decorations (and trying to stop him from pulling them all down!) has already made this Christmas feel extra special.
Finally, the Practice Owners, Mark and Shirley
Mark and Shirley are looking forward to a wonderfully family-filled Christmas this year. They’ll be heading off to visit their middle son, Alasdair, with their loyal companion Freddy (the dog) happily in tow. It’s set to be a special few days surrounded by loved ones, and they’re especially excited to spend quality time with their grandson Harry, who is already bringing extra sparkle to the season. With family, food and plenty of festive cheer on the agenda, it promises to be a Christmas they’ll treasure.
We’ve loved putting this blog together and discovering how some members of our team celebrate Christmas. It’s a wonderful reminder of what truly matters at this time of year. It’s not about the big gifts—it’s about the moments shared with loved ones, the traditions we treasure, and the simple joy of being together. We will have to do a post Christmas debrief with the team members who are missing from this blog!
